General Marshall is a retired Huston-Tillotson professor who grew up around Lions Municipal golf course as a caddie and player. Marshall remembers a caddie lounge built for the segregated players of color, but he says it was rarely used. Lions could be the first verifiable desegregated municipal course south of the Mason-Dixon Line. My colleague Kevin Robbins wrote about the history of the times in this story.
