The Texas Book Festival is being held this weekend on the grounds of the State Capitol with authors, music, food and books for all ages. People gather under the tents along Colorado Ave. to find that favorite book their library is lacking.

Melody Putnam flips through some kids book for her son Cody, 8, at bottom, who has found one of interest in the childrens section under the tents outside. “He likes war books, or any kind of heroes books. He loves to read.” said Melody.

Author John R. Erickson signs copies of his popular “Hank the Cowdog” children’s book series for Caitlin McClean, 10, under the book tent as she is joined by friends Jessica Suchanek, 10, far left, and Jamall Little, 11, center.
