Cynthia Smith holds onto her wedding day portrait from July of last year of her and her husband Torrey, who passed away suddenly while in custody at the Hays County Jail trying to clear up an outstanding arrest warrant. She cannot find out any information from law enforcement officials about her husband’s death and is frustrated with the outcome so far. Torrey leaves behind his four children ages 11 to five years old. “The last time we spoke he said ‘Baby just come get me out, I’m ready to come home’, and now he’s gone.” said Cynthia, who has been working two jobs to have money for the holidays. Torrey suffered from Sickle Cell disease, but Cynthia said he was not ill when he went to turn himself in on the warrant. For the complete story online see statesman.com
