The Statesman has a team of nine people covering the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Complete game coverage can be seen at statesman.com, but this is a look at some wonderful palm trees outside our media hotel before we headed over to the stadium.

Staff photographer Jay Janner and I had a hour to kill this afternoon and found a short par 3 course on the hotel grounds. With six holes, free wedges, putters and range balls we toured the course in record time and had a blast. It was a great way to kill some time without killing anybody, although Jay did manage to hit one in the street. No harm!
