Texas Longhorn Baseball is Upon Us, with new artificial turf

The University of Texas baseball team held its annual Fan Appreciation Day with an Orange vs. White scrimmage at University Federal Credit Union Field at Disch-Falk Sunday afternoon. Kordel Rhode, 8, of Smithsville, TX. takes in the sites of the scrimmage game as a big fan of Texas baseball. His hat shows the many autographs he got from players beforehand.

Texas right-handed pitcher Taylor Jungmann throws during the early innings of the game from the pitching mound, which is the only area of the field to have dirt. Around all the bases and home plate is synthetic grass. The new turf is part of the stadium renovations during the last year.

The right field bull pen got a workout during the scrimmage under the advertising sign for Wendy’s.

Texas head coach Augie Garrido is all smiles as he watches play from the dugout during the game.
