The Pflugerville Girl’s basketball team has advanced to the Class 5A State Championship this weekend and will face a tough opponent in Nimitz and their star player Brittney Griner, who is 6’8″ tall and a force in the middle of the lane. To compensate for her enormous reach assistant coach April Ellickson uses a broom to help Nneka Enemkpali and her players deal with Griner’s armspread and shot blocking ability.

Nancy Walling, head coach for 20 years at the school, tells her team to remember to use a head fake when dealing with shots near the goal.

Much of the defensive load will fall on the shoulders of Nneka Enemkpali, the only Panthers player over 6 foot tall.
