Austin police officers were involved in a car chase along I-35 which ended at W. 38 1/2 St. when two suspects who had car-jacked an automobile earlier in the day crashed into another vehicle and were apprehended. The suspects ran over a person in a wheelchair at a bus stop when they tried to jump the curb to elude officers at a traffic light. That person is in critical condition at University Medical Center Brackenridge. The suspect’s white Buick later crashed into an SUV flipping that car over and leaving a man and child slightly injured. One suspect was detained at the wreckage and pepper-sprayed while the other broke his leg trying to jump a rail onto I-35 and was captured by police in a foot chase.
