Pilot Lands Airplane Safely in Bad Weather with Daughter and Student on Board

Pilot Jerry White was instructing student Jeff Alino in instrument navigation when they incurred a problem with their single-engine aircraft causing them to make an emergency landing in an open field along the southbound lanes of Texas Toll Road 130 just south of FM 812 and south of ABIA. White’s daughter Jenna, 6, was asleep the entire time in the backseat as the two pilots combined to make a perfect safety landing. White is with Pilot’s Choice in Georgetown. The three walked a short distance through the muddy field to the frontage road for assistance. There were no injuries and minor damage to the plane. DPS Corporal Carlton Scott surveys the scene with pilot Jerry White (in greenish short sleeve shirt) and Jeff Alino (in dark jacket). White secures the cockpit by locking the doors before walking away from the scene to worry about recovery of the aircraft at a later date.
