The 33rd annual running of the Capitol 10,000 footrace went off without a hitch under gray skies and drizzling rain as over 20,000 runners participated in the yearly affair. Many predicted a new course record in a sub 30-minute time and defending champion Darren Brown, right, had his sights set on another victory. The race took its toll on him as he collapsed at the finish line placing third. He was able to recover several minutes later requiring no medical attention and walked off the race course with the help of his teammate Michael Stanley, from the Rogue Running Elite Team. Stanley sprinted to a second place finish behind winner Keith Pierce from Cedar Park who out-kicked everyone at the 4.5 mile mark to pull away.
