Austin City Council members rejected a controversial $750,000 settlement with the family of Nathaniel Sanders II, an African-American man fatally shot by a police officer in May 2009. The council rejected the settlement in a 4-3 vote, ending a day of suspense at City Hall. Sgt Wayne Vincent, President of the Austin Police Association, was pleased by the decision and answers questions afterwards outside chambers. The logically next step is for a jury trial.
