The Neon Jungle Is Everywhere

Evan Voyles balances himself on a ladder from the bed of his grandfather’s truck Tuesday morning to work on his latest creation, a large neon sign for Home Slice Pizza on S. Congress Ave. in the SOCO district. “Give me 24 hours and it might be finished.” said Voyles, who added, “I’ve built it from scratch to look like its been here for a while, vintage style.” Voyles, whose company is called The Neon Jungle, has been doing this sort of thing for years, creating works of art for Antones, Stubb’s, Chuy’s, County Line, and several shops and restaurants along S. Congress. “This is home court for me.” said Voyles referring to the Avenue and places like Yard Dog, Tesoros, Hotel St. Cecilia, Magnolia Cafe, and many other Austin landmarks.
