Betty Sue Towns was the first Watermelon Thump Queen 60 years ago in 1954 as she participates as the Grand Marshall in the 60th annual Watermelon Thump festival being held this weekend in the small Central Texas town of Luling, which is known for their watermelons. They celebrated Saturday morning June 29, 2013 with a parade, entertainment and activities for all ages.
