Stan Slater is a hot sauce enthusiast of sorts and equipped with his special pepper cap and hot sauce t-shirt, braves the spicier green sauces much to his satisfaction. The Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival, which began in 1990, has become the world’s largest and many turned out on a blistering hot day at Fiesta Gardens Sunday afternoon August 24, 2014 to try hundreds of sauces. The event is the major fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and features hot sauce competitions, food vendors and entertainment.
